Options Prototyping Boards & Modules:

The ‘Options’ product range offers a suite of products designed to enable the use of conventional prototyping  technology based on our  “Square Pad Board” design for fast easy prototyping and incorporates unique interface modules that can be fitted with a wide range of modern I/O connectors to give the designer the widest possible choice of connections possible.

Options Boards:

The boards are based on standard Eurocard formats, and cover the single and double height  boards and the most popular depths of 160mm & 220mm with double extended boards available to order, the cards are suitable for use in: compliant subrack / chassis and plugged into a backplane, used on the open work bench, or placed in a suitable enclosure from our product range.

There are three basic formats for each card size being made available:

§  Boards designed to use the Standard DIN 41612  interface  + Options Module at the opposite end.

§  Boards designed to use the Options Module at both ends.

§  Boards designed to use the hard Metric 2mm connectors + Options Module at the opposite end. These formats are based on the 3U or 100mm high Boards. These are replicated in the 2nd positions on the 6u or 233mm high cards. Other connector interface options will be made available in due course.

Key Features:

§  Standard Eurocard formats

§  Low cost double sided construction based on 35 Microns Cu and 1.6mm thick

§  Can be used in conjunction with standard card frame/ card chassis and front panel systems suitable for use with VME and Compact PCI systems

§  Designed to use a range of options modules and Industry standard connector formats offering the widest possible application capability.

§  Finished in gold flash to provide excellent solderability and long shelf life

§  Maximum component Packing Density - holes and rows based on 2.54mm pitch and Grid with 1.02mm nominal holes.

§  Total Flexibility for wiring methods – wire wrapping, hard wire soldering.

§  Produced Using FR4 materials to meet required UL and safety requirements

 Options I/O Modules:
Options Boards Module montage  Options Prototyping Board Modules are designed to be used with the Vero ‘Options' development boards combining the ease of use of the Vero square pad design with modern I/O connector systems. The modules are produced using simple double sided PTH PCB techniques for low cost and are scribed to enable the desired module to be snapped off the 7 board set for use. Like the prototyping boards the modules are finished in gold flash to further reduce costs but provide good solderability and shelf life. The connector profile is tracked out to pads / holes to enable the use of pins or hard wiring for connection. The modules are locked into the Options Board using custom lock mouldings supplied with each square pad board. The lock mouldings provide a firm retention of the module in the same plane as the prototyping card. This enables the assembled cards to be inserted into conventional racks and chassis as well as used on the development bench when completed. The lock is held in place using press fit plastic rivets or can be fixed using a simple nut and bolt if required.

The initial modules available will be supplied as a 7 way board set and currently includes the following connector patterns: USB type A, USB type B, D Sub miniature 15 way, D Sub miniature 25 way, D Sub miniature 37 way. Additional connectors being released shortly are D Subminiature 9 way, I Phone / I Pad , 2mm hard Metric , BNC, SMA, S Video, Co Axial.
