Solent EBP

Solent_EBP_WinnerThe Amazing People Awards Evening, hosted by Solent EBP on 28 June, celebrated the achievements of over 30 people from local business or education who have gone out of their way to support young people at school or college to help prepare them for adult life and work through developing or taking part in innovative programmes. The evening also celebrated the achievements of some students who have overcome personal difficulties through their links with business during work experience.

Each of the ten categories had been sponsored by a local business:- British Gas, Blake Lapthorn, Capita, BDO, Southern Entrepreneurs, Eastleigh Borough Council, PwC, Blue Star, Mansell Construction, and Macdonald Botley Park Hotel, and the event held at the Harbour Lights, Ocean Village, was compered by BBC South Today’s Laura Trant.

The winners were: Paul Wilton (Roke Manor Research), Mike Kimmer (Mansell Construction Services), Michael Wilson (a student from the Melbourne School), Tammy Cutler (Beaulieu Motor Museum), Sohail Chowdhary (student at Upper Shirley High School), Brian Anderson (a volunteer at St George Catholic College), Mark Wilkinson & Greg Warnes (Flybe), The Blake Lapthorn Languages Team (Blake Lapthorn), Natasha Mansley (student at Totton College), and David Andrews (Crestwood College). John Morton Managing Director of Vero Technologies was awarded a Highly Commended, for his contribution.

The important point here though is the business community working with Eductaion to encourage our future generations.
